Photographer Jesse Frohman, who has photographed countless celebrities and artists, took this haunting-yet-taunting photo of Kurt Cobain in November 1993, about five months before Cobain took his own life. Frohman was commissioned by the Sunday Observer magazine of London to shoot Nirvana. On the day of the shoot, Cobain arrived three hours late and asked for a bucket, wearing large white sunglasses. Frohman later told Rolling Stone, that given Cobain’s rumored heroin addiction the request was not shocking. Cobain did not remove his glasses for the entirety of the now iconic shoot.
