Like most fans who’ve just watched the seventh movie of the Star Wars series, or even those who’ve watched the trailer the buzz going around is about how Kylo Ren, the new age villain got his hands on the iconic helmet of Darth Vader. We know that Ren is in awe of his grandfather, Darth Vader and aims to emulate the fallen Sith Lord and looks to him for strength, but how did he manage to get his hands on Anakin Skywalker’s helmet when he was cremated on a funeral pyre far away on the forest moon of Endor and fix it up in his little shrine.
A collection of short stories contains a particular one that answers this question perfectly. “The Perfect Weapon” by Delilah S. Dawson, is part of the "Journey to the Force Awakens" collection that was written to bridge the 30-year gap between the events in “Return of The Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”
If you’ve seen the movie (spoilers ahead) then you’d remember the scene when Han Solo and gang enter Maz Kanata’s cantina and are reported to the first order by a certain female alien who was found initially poised next to a huge blue looking thing. This alien will have a huge role to play in the upcoming series and is a bounty hunter by the name of Bazine Netal and has a history with the first order.
The story describes how Netal is sent to a far flug planet called Vashka where retired storm troopers spend the last of their days. She goes to recover a secret package, containing the perfect weapon and retrieves it after overcoming giant insects and other adversaries and brings them to Kylo Ren.
Try reading these short stories before you watch the movie or at least the next installment to earn some bragging rights among the gang!
